Sergio Cámara Izquierdo is a full-time C-level tenured professor of Political Economy at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Azcapotzalco, where he has served as Chair of the Department of Economics (2018–2024). He has served on the Board of Directors of the Latin American Society for Critical Economics and Critical Thought (SEPLA) and on the Board of the International Initiative for Promoting Political Economy (IIPPE). He is a member of the editorial boards of Review of Radical Political Economics and Análisis Económico. He has been recognized as Level II in the National System of Researchers (SNII) of the Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (Secihti) and as having a “Desirable Profile” by the Program for the Professional Development of Teachers of the Secretariat of Public Education (PRODEP-SEP). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid. He has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the “Santiago Antúnez de Mayolo” National University in Peru. His areas of research include applied political economy, the analysis of capitalist macroeconomic dynamics, and the labor theory of value.
